A Bit About Me

Each family faces unique challenges that can feel isolating, especially if your family isn’t considered a “traditional” one.  If you are a child or teen in foster care, if you’re adopted, or you’re being raised by a relative or single parent, you are not alone. Even if you’re feeling abandoned or rejected, experiencing grief, loss, guilt or shame, you don’t have to go through it on your own and there is someone to help.

With care and empathy, I utilize a trauma informed approach to create a safe environment where children and teens feel comfortable expressing their hurt and pain and where they can experience healing. By building on strengths and focusing on what’s important to my clients, I provide a therapeutic experience that is affirming, safe and tailored to those I serve. I am committed to supporting children and teens by helping them cultivate healing, wholeness, empowerment, and healthy relationships (with self and others).

Experience:

Theresa holds a Doctorate of Psychology degree in School Psychology from the University of Colorado, Denver. Theresa has over a decade of experience working with children and teens and their families as a teacher, school psychologist and resource specialist. She has provided play and sand tray therapy to children, supported adolescents with Serious Emotional Disabilities, and teens with various mental health and cognitive disabilities. For the last five years, she has provided teens and young adults from diverse backgrounds with wrap-around support at Front Range Community College.

More than just my work:

When it’s warm outside, I love gardening, going for walks and being outdoors. When it’s cold, I enjoy snuggling up with a fuzzy blanket and watching a cooking show, or reading a book. My family, game nights, trying a new restaurant or recipe, and yoga make my heart happy anytime of the year.
