A Bit About Me
Do you feel like your experiences are hard for people in your life to relate to? Maybe you’re an eldest daughter, or a caregiver or sibling of an individual with disabilities. You might be employed in a helping profession or crisis intervention work, or navigating neurodivergence within your own identity. You may be feeling exhausted, isolated and stressed. Your experiences and identities are deserving of being seen and accepted in therapy. Your wellness journey is unique to you. Whether you know exactly what you want to work on in therapy or you’re not quite sure where to begin, or you are somewhere in between, you are welcome here.
As a Caribbean-American Latina, I believe that it is important to consider each individual through a multicultural lens because mental health is deeply connected to our cultural identities and lived experiences. Using a collaborative approach, I offer counseling services that focus on attending to all parts of yourself with compassion and processing the parts of you that others might not be able to fully understand or relate to. I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) modalities to help you live with more ease and authenticity. We will work together to compassionately honor all of the parts of who you are and identify the values you want to align your life with. I’m committed to creating a warm, inclusive environment to facilitate healing and exploration of your wellness goals.
Experience:
Samantha is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate with a master’s degree in counseling, a doctorate degree in occupational therapy, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She worked at The Joshua School as an occupational therapist for 2 years before becoming the mental health provider there upon graduating with her counseling degree in 2023. Samantha has experience utilizing dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and internal family systems (IFS) to serve clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues and trauma recovery. Samantha is passionate about working with LGBTQ+ folks, neurodiverse individuals and their families across the lifespan and the Latinx community.
More than just my work:
I’m a proud Caribbean-American Latina who loves books, tea, and spending time in nature with loved ones.
