A Bit About Me
Many clients come to therapy feeling uncertain, overwhelmed, or disconnected—from themselves, their goals, or their sense of direction. They may be navigating trauma, anxiety, life transitions, identity questions, or the lingering impact of systemic and cultural pressures. Often, they feel like they need to be ten steps ahead of where they are, or they wonder if therapy will even help. For some, simply showing up is an act of courage.
I offer a culturally responsive, holistic approach that honors the unique context of each client’s lived experience. Whether we're exploring cultural identity, personal history, or emotional patterns, I work from a foundation of curiosity, empathy, and respect. My practice integrates Relational-cultural, Humanistic-existentialism, and Narrative Therapy, and with children, I use developmentally appropriate, play-based interventions to help them express and process their experiences. As someone who has lived across multiple countries, I understand the complexities of navigating identity, belonging, and difference—and I strive to ensure that your cultural values and voice are not only welcomed, but centered in our work. I also specialize in supporting LGBTQ+ clients and creating affirming, inclusive therapeutic spaces.
Clients often leave our sessions feeling more seen, grounded, and empowered to move forward with clarity and self-compassion. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can reconnect with your strengths, make room for all parts of yourself, and begin to write your story in a way that feels true and liberating. Whether we meet in person or online, I’m here to walk alongside you on your path toward healing and growth.
Experience:
Mahima is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate and a recent graduate of the University of Denver, where she earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Before joining Empowered Living Collective, she worked in a private practice setting supporting children, teens, and adults navigating trauma, life transitions, eating disorders, neurodiversity, mood disorders, and cultural adjustment concerns. Prior to graduate school, Mahima worked as a lab manager at a mental health research lab in Toronto, Canada, where she focused on exploring innovative ways to use technology to improve mental health care and accessibility.
More than just my work:
“The seed of suffering in you may be strong, but don't wait until you have no more suffering before allowing yourself to be happy.” —Thich Nhat Hanh
I have lived in 9 countries so far and absolutely love to travel! I recharge with a good book and some great music and love to be outside in nature whenever I can!
